Catherine (Katie) Harris Lewis

Catherine (Katie) Harris Lewis, 87, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2001, at South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful, Utah.
She was born August 29, 1913, in St. John, Idaho, the daughter of Archibald and Mary Mae Jones Harris.
She married Theras Evans Lewis on December 3, 1934. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple, July 20, 1965. Theras died October 16, 1973.
Katie attended school in St. John and Malad. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1931. She was active in the LDS church and served in several positions. She was known for her wit and sense of humor. She loved to write poetry and had a few of her poems published in the Children’s Friend. She spent her life working as a homemaker. She worked for a short time for Thiokol Corporation and for the Malad Soil Conservation office as a secretary and bookkeeper.
She lived most of her life in St. John, Idaho. The last 18 years she has resided at Heritage Place in Bountiful, Utah. We thank those that took such good care of her while she lived at Heritage Place. She will be missed by her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Gordon (Kathleen) Lewis, Boulder, Colorado; a daughter, LaRee Sperry, Malad; Eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters: Orpha Harris Hall, Mt. Home, Idaho; Maisie Harris Williams, Malad; and Bonnie Harris Giles, Bountiful, Utah; and a brother-in-law, Keith Evans, Malad.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theras; parents; sisters, Millie Courtney and Rula Evans; and son-in-law, Craig Sperry.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at Benson-Horsley funeral home. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
