Caryol Browning Davis Malone

Downey, Idaho ~ Caryol Browning Davis Malone, Malad resident slipped the surly bonds of earth and into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 14, 2013. Caryol was born on June 24, 1921, in Downey, Idaho to Emily Maria Bybee Browning and James Frederick Browning. Caryol was raised in the Woodland area of southwestern Marsh Valley and was a graduate of Downey High School and the S.L.C Beauty College. She was married by her father, Bishop Browning, in California to Claire J. Davis in 1942 at the onset of World War II. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. They lived in southern Idaho for a number of years but spent ten years in Ogden where Caryol was an Executive Secretary at Hill Air Force Base. Claire passed away on December 27, 1982. In 1984, Caryol married Douglas Malone. Doug and Caryol served two missions for the L.D.S. Church, where they made a number of cherished friends. Doug and Caryol moved “back” to Malad and enjoyed getting reacquainted with old friends and making new ones. Doug passed away in 2000, and Caryol remained in Malad until 2010 when she moved to Whispering Pines in Downey, Idaho.
Caryol was called to many positions within the L.D.S. Church and greatly enjoyed serving all of her fellowmen and women. Her beautiful smile and kind heart will be missed by all that have known her but most of all her family. Caryol is survived by Barbara (Ronald) Hall of Green River, Wyoming; Annette (Von) Elcock of Jerome, Idaho; Helen Jean (Chad) Maynes, of West Jordan, Utah; and J.C. (Cindy) Davis of Columbus, Ohio, thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Additionally, Caryol loved and is survived by Doug’s five sons: Lonny, Curt, Mike, Craig, Matt, and a daughter Vicki as well as their children and grandchildren. Caryol was preceded in death by two husbands, her parents, two brothers Frank (Fern), Fred (Lola) Browning, and one sister Helene (Don) Bosworth. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 12 noon at Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North in Malad, Idaho. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday prior to services from 10:00 a.m. through 11:45 a.m. Burial will follow at the Downey City Cemetery.
