Cary Eugene Scouten

Malad – Cary Eugene Scouten, 66 passed away suddenly on February 24, 2019 at home in Malad, ID. He was born March 28, 1952, to Forrest and Elaine Scouten of Moore, ID.

His early years were spent on the family farm in Moore, ID. Cary enjoyed spending his time in the mountains hunting and fishing. His favorite place to be was up at the cabin with his family.

After graduating from Butte County High School in 1970, he attended ISU and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Education. Cary married Debbie Hopla in 1975. Cary taught middle school for one year in Rigby, ID before returning to Moore, ID, where he farmed and worked at the INL for 17 years.

In 1993 Cary and his family moved to Malad, ID where they purchased Central Service and ran it for 17 years, selling in 2012.

Cary worked on the Thomas Farm since 1999. Farming has always been what he loved. Hunting and fishing and spending time with his five grandsons was his passion and love.

Cary is survived by his mother, Elaine Scouten, his wife Debbie Scouten, and his children, Dana (Shantel) Scouten, Jaime (Tyrell) Thomas, Sara (Dallas) Degn, and his siblings, Frances (Gaven) Knighton, Bill (Loretta) Scouten, Jim (Linda) Scouten, his five grandsons Deklan Scouten, Trey, Talon, Tyce, and Trig Thomas, as well as lots of nieces and nephews.

Cary is preceded in death by his father, Forrest Scouten.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Moore LDS Chapel. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home and Friday from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Moore LDS Chapel prior to the funeral.
