Carolyn Ward

Malad–Carolyn Ward of Malad, Idaho died February 18, 2012 at Legacy Village Assisted Living Center after a courageous struggle with the effects of a stroke.

Carolyn was born September 24, 1933 in Samaria, Idaho to John (Jack) Morse Williams and Mary (May) Evans. Her family lived in Samaria in her younger years, eventually moving to Malad, where she attended school and graduated from Malad High School in 1951.

She married her high school sweetheart JonClesmer Ward on June 29, 1951, and they made their home in Malad, Idaho and Snowville, Utah, where the family owned a farm. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple on June 27, 1958.

Carolyn was active in the church and served in many leadership positions, which often required her to use her musical skills as a chorister and dance director. She also served faithfully in stake and ward leadership positions in Primary and Relief Society.

Her life was an example of service to others, whether it involved teaching women in Relief Society or children in Primary. Carolyn spent an entire week shaping the material, not only to fit the needs of those in her class, but also to reach each individual class member. Carolyn served a service mission in Salt Lake City at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for 15 years.

Carolyn loved her family, and she not only devoted her time and talents to church service, but she also watched over her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her brothers and sisters were also a major part of her life, and she enjoyed getting together with them as often as possible.

After Jon’s passing, she assumed the responsibility for the family farm, leasing it and ensuring its solvency and productivity.

Carolyn is survived by her brothers: Jack (Joyce) Williams of Longmont, Colorado, Brent (Myrna) Williams of Salt Lake City, Dwight (Jan) Williams of Fallbrook, California and Richard (Lynn) Williams of Salt Lake City; by her sisters: Myra Jean John of Bountiful, Utah, Mavis (Warn) Culver of Meridian, Idaho, Rochelle (Bob) Evans of Roy Utah and Sondra Robbins of Hamilton, Montana; by her children: Jon (Ann) Clesmer Ward of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jill (Keith) Blaisdell of Malad, Idaho and Ann (Brent) Keller of Pleasant View, Utah; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
