Carlyle Eugene Champneys

Carlyle Eugene Champneys, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008 in West Point, UT, surrounded by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who lived him dearly He was born march 1, 1916 in Ogden, a son of Irl Owen and Frederika Schroeder Champneys.

He married Evelyn Brown on July 3, 1936 in Ogden. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was employed with he Southern Pacific Railroad as an engineer. He was also a rancher. He loved horses, especially quarter horse and thoroughbred horse racing.

He was a member of the LD Church where he served as a High Priest, home teacher and as a teacher in the Elders quorum.

Champ was a great story teller and made us laugh, and showed his love and endearment for everyone with his nicknames for them.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter; Stephen Carlyle (Linette) Champneys, Judsonia, Arkansas; David Russell Champneys, Bremerton, Washington; Sheryl (Robert) Clements, West Point, UT, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter Dienna, two granddaughters Angela Dee and Michelle, and all of his siblings, Owen, Udell, Gloria Dunlap, Irl, and Irie.

Funeral service will be held at the graveside in the Ogden City Cemetery, June 25, at 11:00 a.m.
