Downey…On Friday, June 29, 2017 Carl E. Barnes passed away at the age of 87 years in his home that was built by his grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anavoe (Mangum). They were married November 14, 1952 in Idaho Falls. He is also survived by his sister Clea Barfuss and brother Dean, sister-in-law Dixie, son Lyle (Janet), three daughters Julie (Robert) Sorenson, Carla (Richard) Matern, Lory, 19 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren who loved him very much. He is preceded in death by his brother Leon, brother-in-law Delmar Barfuss, sister-in-law Shirley, sons Ed and David, one grandson Landon and one granddaughter Brynne. Carl was born on November 2, 1929 in Downey, Idaho, son of Eli and Vinnie Barnes. He loved his hometown where he raised his family and enjoyed his farm life. He had a love for animals. He was a true cowboy. Carl will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. All are invited to the Graveside service on Wednesday, July 5 at 11 a.m. in the Downey City Cemetery. Friends may also visit with the family on Wednesday morning at the Downey LDS Church from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the graveside.
