Calvin C. Dredge

POCATELLO, Ida-Calvin C. Dredge beloved husband father and grandfather, passed away Friday, June 9, 2000, at Bannock Regional Medical Center as a result of cancer.
Cal was born January 16, 1926, in Malad, Idaho, the son of Jesse H. and Nellie Kunz Dredge. He was raised and educated in Malad, graduating from Malad High School. It was here where he began his love of ranching.
On June 6, 1946, he married Miriel Talbot. Together they had two daughters, Susanne and Miriam, both of Boise.
Cal and Miriel were later divorced. He began his ranching career in the Malad area, also serving on many boards of many organizations, including The Idaho Cattlemen’s Association and the Idaho Wool Growers Association and several other grazing boards.
On April 30, 1977, he married Alicia Aldana in Rupert. Together they have a son, Frank Joseph Dredge of Rupert, Calif. [Idaho]
Cal and Alicia continued to ranch in Rupert and Soda Springs, raising both sheep and cattle. Cal always wanted to be a stockman. He loved the livestock industry, the places his work took him and the people he met.
Cal never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by the many who knew and loved him.
Cal is survived by his wife, Alicia of Rupert; his children, Frank of Rupert; Susanne ( Val) Jones of Boise; Miriam Dredge of Boise; sisters, Norma ( James) Hill of St. George, Utah; Elaine (Rosell) Mills of Malad; Ruth (Meryle) Swanson of Mesa, Ariz; Rose (Rulon ) Ward of Sugar City.
He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and four brothers.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2000, at the Hansen Mortuary, Rupert Chapel, with Father Henry Carmona officiating. Mass of Christian burial will be a t 11 a. m. Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father Henry Carmona officiating. Burial will follow at the Rupert Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the St. Nicholas Catholic School in Rupert. Services are under the direction of Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel.
