Boyd Cervantes Albretsen

Boyd Cervantes Albretsen, 77, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 1997, in Pocatello following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 26, 1919 in Hyrum, Utah, a son of Iver and Nellie Vilate Albretsen. He also was raised and educated in Hyrum.

Boyd married Lelia Nielsen on June 10, 1941, in the Logan LDS Temple. For four years Boyd worked for the Logan Fire Department. During World War 11 he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He later enlisted in the Air Force and served there for 22 years, retiring in 1965. For the next several years he lived in Rigby, Idaho, and was employed at the I.N.E.E.L. since 1991. He and Lelia have resided in Downey.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he had served in various capacities. Boyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Lelia, Downey; two sons, Raymond Boyd (Margot) Albretsen, Bay City, Mich.; Michael Scott (Dal) Albretsen, Gilbert, Ariz.; four daughters, Linda (Lennis) Christiansen, Hyrum, Utah; Dawn (Richard) Connerley, Smithfield, Utah; Michele (Scott) Gittins, Amalga, Utah; Gale (Paul) Head, Afton, Wyo.; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one half-sister.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 22, 1987, in the Downey LDS Ward chapel at 10 a.m., with bishop Coy Pratt officiating. Friends may call Monday at the church one hour prior to service. On that same day there will be a service at 3 p.m. in the Hyrum City, Utah, LDS Stake chapel, located at 600 S. 200 E. Burial will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery with military rites.

Services are under the direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
