Bobbi Jean McKinney Gehrke

Bobbi Jean McKinney Gehrke was born April 24, 1930, in Kirksville, Adair, Missouri to Robert Seldom Mckinley and Lucille Virginia Lang. Bobbi passed away August 13, 2017, of pulmonary fibrosis in Boise, Ada, Idaho at the age of 87. Bobbi had been living in Spring Creek Assistant Living Center in Boise, Idaho for the last 10 months of her life. Before coming to Idaho Bobbi lived in Sun Lakes, Arizona. Bobbi grew up in Adair County, Missouri. Bobbi was a farm girl who worked hard on her family farm and loved horses. Bobbi completed all grades of school and graduated from Kirksville High School in 1949. Bobbi graduated from Cosmetology school in the mid-fifties and eventually owned her own beauty salon in California. Later in life, Bobbi went to college and received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1978. Bobbi married Henry Clayton Gehrke on May 29, 1949, in Kirksville, Missouri. One child was born to them, Ginger Lee on April 19, 1953. Henry and Bobbi divorced in 1960 and remarried in 1979. Through the years Bobbi lived in California and Arizona. She enjoyed dancing and had been a ballroom dance teacher and later in life danced in a senior women’s dance group in Arizona. Bobbi was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Robert S. McKinney, Jr. and granddaughter Rachel Summers. Bobbi is survived by her daughter, Ginger Summers and son-in-law, Mike Summers. 6 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and her sister Norma Lee Henning. Burial will be in Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Sun Lakes, Arizona on August 30, 2017.
