Birdie Leora Bair Ashton

Birdie L. Ashton died June 24, funeral Mon.

Mrs. Birdie Leora Ashton, 72, died Thursday, June 24, 1976, at her home in Woodruff of natural causes.

She was born June 12, 1905 at Cove, Cache County, Utah to Hyrum Lester and Harriet Skidmore Bair.

She married Warren V. Ashton June 5, 1929 in the Logan LDS Temple.

She received her education in Richmond, Utah, and attended Brigham Young College and Utah State University. She was a school teacher.

An active member of the LDS church, Mrs. Ashton served as a teacher and secretary in various organizations; was a former Relief Society president in Cherry Creek Ward, and worked in genealogy.

Survivors include her husband, Woodruff; three sons, Warren J. Ashton and Kenneth D. Ashton, both of Salt Lake City and Donald L. Ashton of Dallas, Tex.; seven grandchildren and four brothers, Marion Bair of Nauvoo, Ill., John S. Bair of Salt lake City, and Melvin Bair and Wendell Bair, both of Layton, Utah.

Funeral Service

Service for Mrs. Ashton was held Monday (June 28, 1976) at the Cherry Creek LDS Ward chapel with Bishop Donald S. Vaughan officiating.

Family prayer was offered by Donald L. Ashton. Wendell Bair delivered the invocation, Linda A. Manis the obituary.

Speakers were Bishop Morgan Harris and Bishop Vaughan.

Norman Howell offered the benediction.

Vocal selections were rendered by Thelma Price, Margie Vaughan, Maisie Williams and Eldon Corbridge. Iris Blaisdell played prelude and postlude music.

Accompanists were Josephine Ann Williams and Mrs. Blaisdell.

Concluding rites were held in the Richmond, Utah Cemetery where John S. Bair delivered the dedicatory prayer. Cherry Creek Ward Relief Society, Alta Moon, president, were in charge of flowers.

Wayne Ashton and Mark Ashton served as honorary bearers.

Casket bearers were Billy Ashton, Kim Ashton, Fred Cox, Monte Price, Reed Howell and Pat Manis.
