Benny Ray Andrew

Benny Ray Andrew, 53, died Friday, April 20 1984, near Dillon, Montana, following a heart attack. He was born to Herbert Oscar and Jennie Cora Martin Andrew in Swan Lake on December 14, 1930. He spent his youth in Onyx and graduated from McCammon High School.

He married Madaleen Shaffer in Inkom on September 23, 1950. On June 8, 1956 the marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. For 27 years, they made their home in Pocatello, and then moved to Inkom where they have lived for seven years.

He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad Company for 35 years and for the past 20 years had been derrick foreman.

He was a member of the Portneuf Ward LDS Church and was serving as the financial clerk at the time of his death. Twice he had served as Elder’s Quorum president and had been Sunday School superintendent. He was a member of the Union Pacific Old Timers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Inkom; his father, Herbert Andrew, Inkom; his mother, Jennie Bentley, McCammon; two sons Steve Lowell and Michael Enoch Andrew, both of Inkom; four daughters, Mrs. Todd (Melessa) Mumme, Pocatello; Mrs. James (RaeLene) Jenson, Inkom; Mrs. Stuart (Shauna) Bodkin, Buhl; Angela Jo Andrew, Inkom; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Benny Wayne, and his stepfather, Ellis Bentley.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 22, at the Inkom LDS Chapel with Bishop Timothy B. Shaffer of the Portneuf Ward officiating. Burial was in the Inkom Cemetery.
