A six-man jury ruled Tuesday that Bennie S. Williams, 32-year old Malad man, died of injuries received accidentally and stated there was no evidence of foul play.
Mr. Williams was found dead in his room at the Malad Hotel , Thursday and an autopsy per formed by Dr. E. B. Webb, Pocatello pathologist, disclosed that death was caused by an inter-cranial hemorrhage due to a hairline fracture of the skull.
The jury’s findings concurred with the opinions of the investigating officers, Oneida Sheriff John A. Evans, Malad Police, Chief W. E. Thomas and Oneida Prosecuting Attorney J. W. Crowther, that the fatal injury resulted from a fall but it couldn’t be determined when or where the accident occurred.
Mr. Williams was known to have fallen on some ice about 10 a.m. Wednesday, the day before, his death, but apparently was not hurt at that time as he didn’t inform his family or friends that he was injured.
Tuesday’s inquest was called by Coroner Raiford Benson who questioned the pathologist and a group of people who last saw Mr. Williams alive. Mr. Benson was assisted by Mr. Crowther.
