Belle Thorpe Evans

EVANS, BELLE THORPE, October 23, 1895 – August 1, 1985

Belle Thorpe Evans, 89, died Thursday in the Oneida County Hospital. She was born October 23, 1895 in Samaria to Samuel and Annabella Memmott Thorpe. She grew up and was educated in Samaria and Malad.

She married Benjamin Adams Evans February 17, 1915 in Malad. The marriage was solemnized in September, 1937 in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Evans died February 15, 1977.

She had lived all her married life on a farm and ranch near the Malad Divide and in Malad.

She was a member of the LDS Church and served in the Relief Society, as counselor in the Primary presidency, was a member of the stake genealogy board, a teacher in the Sunday School, member of the ward choir and served as a visiting teacher. She was also a member of the Oneida County War Mothers.

She is survived by two sons, Glen T. Evans, Ogden, UT; Rex T. Evans, Malad; one daughter, Mrs. Bette Jones, Ogden; ten grandchildren 11 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter; two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Marvin Hess officiating. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
