Beatrice Jane Tillotson Day

Downey…………….Beatrice Jane Tillotson Day, 89, lontime Downey resident, passed away on January 7, 2012 at her home. She was born December 8, 1922 in Virginia, Idaho, a daughter of John L. and Rosetta Brown Tillotson. As a young girl, the famly moved to Pocatello. They reutrned to Downey when her father was offered a job as Downey City Sheriff. Beatrice married Eugene Day Sr. May 20, 1942, and they made their home in Downey, where she has since resided. She had worked as a waitress at Jack’s Cafe and for many years was employed with the Downey Elementary School lunch program. Beatrice enjoyed gardening, collecting salt and pepper shakers and ear rings . She also liked travelling with her husband and they had driven to many parts of the country. Following 62 years of marriage, Eugene died in May of 2004. Beatrice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by one son; Eugene “Jene” Day (Cherolynn) of Downey; 1 daughter in law; Dixie Day of Downey ; 6 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. 1 sister; Francis Walters of Pocatello. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Jack L. Day (Dixie); 1 sister; Lovisa Corson; 3 brothers; Roger Tillotson; Marvin Tillotson and James Lemuel Tillotson (Stillborn). Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 12, 2012 at 12 noon in the Downey LDS 1st Ward, Bishop Rex Nielsen, officiating. Friends may visit with the Day family on Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm at the church and on Thursday prior to the service from 10:30-11:45 am. Burial will follow in the Cambridge Cemetery. The Day family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Karen Jones and Kim Day for their compassionate care of our mother during her illness. Services are under the care and direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
