Arvilla Irene Clegg Evans

March 9, 1914 – June 25, 1982

Arvilla Irene Clegg Evans, 68, died Friday in Idaho Falls.

She was born March 9, 1914 in Downey to Byrd and Eva Criddle Clegg. She grew up and attended school in Downey.

She married Dale A. Evans Dec. 5, 1931 in Downey. That marriage was solemnized Sept. 12, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple. After her marriage she moved to Malad and lived here ever since.

She had worked for the J.C. Penney Co. and also Dolly’s Millinery. She worked for 16 years as a cook for the Malad School District.

She was a charter member of KITH (Friendship Club). She worked with the American Cancer Society for 25 years. She enjoyed dancing, quilting, camping, and homemaking.

She is survived by her husband, Malad; three sons: Dale W. Evans, Rexburg; Kim C. and Mark C. Evans, both of Malad; three daughters: Mrs. Elden (Renee) Schlehuber, Bountiful, UT; Mrs. William (Marie) Neal, Malad, and Mrs. Mick (Danielle) Jeppsen, Fallon, NV; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford Clegg, Burley, and Myrl Clegg, Roy, UT; and two sisters Mrs. James (Leona) Campbell, Rupert, and Mrs. Melvin (Bertha) Hess, Malad.

Funeral services were held Monday at noon at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Garth Sweeten officiating. Family prayer was offered by Kim Evans at the funeral home. At the chapel, Lamar Thomas offered the invocation and the life sketch was given by Gwen Evans. Speakers were Lloyd Sorensen and Bishop Hubert Gleed, with Bishop Sweeten offering remarks.

Vocal selections were offered by Lisa, Leah and Shana Evans, granddaughters of Mrs. Evans, and Connie and Kristie Budge. Iris Blaisdell played the prelude and postlude and was the accompanist. Offering the benediction was Nolan T. Blaisdell.

Flowers were cared for by the Kith Club, which Mrs. Evans was a member. Casket bearers were Eugene Neal, Max Neal, Clair Neal, Kent Schlehuber, Alan Evans and Floyd Gleed.
