Arthur Ray Bowen

Longtime Ogden resident Arthur Ray Bowen, age 81, died Thursday, May 27, 1993, at Wasatch Care Nursing Center in Ogden, Utah.

He was born in Malad City, Idaho, Nov. 29, 1911, to Charles Bowen and Mary Hughes.

He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Udy Hot Springs in Plymouth, Utah.

He had lived in San Bernardino, and the San Fernando Valley in California. He owned and operated meat markets in Mt. Rose, and Burbank, Calif. In Ogden, Utah he was a painter.

He loved living in Huntsville, Utah, where he was a member of the American Legion Post. He held memberships in the Elks and Eagles Lodges. He was also a donor to the blood bank and held membership in the Gallon Club. He was a boating enthusiast and was a Sea Scout for over 20 years. He enjoyed the sport and television viewing of baseball.

He had been married and divorced.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter, A. Glenn Bowen, Mammoth Lakes, Calif., H. Bruce Bowen, Carson City, Nevada ; Marsha H Bowen Rollins, Pasadena, Calif.; five grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers, Wanda Lipari, Vista, Calif.; Vern Bowen, Ogden, Utah; Don Bowen, Hoquiam, Washington; Wayne Bowen, Folsom, Calif., Bob Bowen, San Diego, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a younger brother, Ted Bowen, one daughter, Sharon Sheldon.

In his later years and in ill health, he was cared for by loving relatives.

He elected his remains be donated to the University of Utah Medical School for the purpose of education and research.

Private memorial services were held, and it was his desire to be cremated and his ashes scattered in Wasatch Mountain in Utah.
