Arthur “Art” Findlay Conley

MALAD- Arthur “Art” Findlay Conley, 72, of Malad, passed away Saturday, March 23, 1996 in the Veterans’ Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, following a valiant batter with cancer.

He was born April 20, 1923 in Montpelier, Idaho, a son of Joseph Gilbert and Maude Findlay Conley. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, was captured during the Normandy invasion, and imprisoned in Germany.

He had lived in Ogden, Utah, where he worked as a painter. After retiring from Hill Air Force Base in 1975, he moved to Malad, where he had since resided.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Vickie and Curt Harris, Areta and Reed Bingham; one son and his wife, Randy and Colleen Conley; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Blaine and Billy A. Conley.

Billy and his wife, Beverly, cared for Art during the last years of his life. He also is survived by many nephews and nieces. A special niece, Josie, was his housekeeper, cook and caring friend until the end. In addition, Art had two special friends: Jim and Doreen Mansfield, who helped make his life much easier. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m. in the Malad City Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65. Arrangements are by the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, Malad.
