Downey…Ardene Nelson Call, 86, longtime Downey resident, passed away on August 5, 2010 in the Oneida County Care Center. Ardene was born June 6, 1924 in Mink Creek, Idaho, a daughter of Clarence and Rebecca Nelson. She was the 3rd of 5 children. Ardene was raised and educated in Dayton, Idaho. She married Lester (Tobe) Call on July 6, 1945 and to this union 5 children were born. She loved family get-togethers and especially visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchilden. Ardene loved to crochet, read, and do search-a-word puzzles. She also liked going out on Neighborhood Watch. She worked various jobs and was site manager for the Senior Citizens for 14 years in Downey. Ardene is survived by her five children: Lynda Walker of Albequerque, New Mexico; LaRae (Tom) Adkins of Ely, Nevada; Mary (Bob) Denney ; Karen (Rick) Bloxham; and Richard Call all of Downey. 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister in law, Lucile Nelson, several nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tobe, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 brothers in law and a nephew. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 10, 2010 at 12 noon in the Hosley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. in Malad. Friends may visit with the Call family on Tuesday prior to the service from 10:00-11:45 am. Burial will follow in the Downey City Cemetery.
