OGDEN – Arden Abbott, 78, died Saturday, June 6, 1998 at the Washington Terrace Care Center of cancer.
He was born January 12, 1920 in Paradise, Utah, a son of Jacob Davis and Grace Ellenor Oldham Abbott.
On February 28, 1949, Arden married Betty E. Salmon in Layton. Betty died April 24, 1995.
He was reared and educated in Brigham City, moving to the Ogden area in the late 1940’s.
Arden was a member of the Ogden 38th LDS Ward. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army Air Corp.
He had been a farmer most of his life. He was employed at Hill Air Force Base for 18 years retiring in 1973.
Arden was an honest man, a good neighbor and was compassionate to the poor.
Surviving are three daughters, Gloria J. (Ivy) McDougle, Kent, Wash.; Shirley Ann (Fred) Willis, Ogden; Marian (Mark) Wood, Fresno, Calif.; eight grandchildren.
Arden is also survived by one brother, Joy Abbott, Malad, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 to 10:45 a.m.
