Anna Marie Richards Perkes

Anna Marie Richards Perkes, 64, of Afton, Wyoming, died July 27, 1998, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls of cardiac arrest.
She was born September 21, 1933, at Malad, Idaho, the daughter of William Henry Richards, Jr. and Margaret Annie John Richards. She spent her early years and was educated in Malad, where she graduated from Malad High School. She attended Utah State University, where she was first chair flute in the Utah State University Symphony.
She married Orson Dee Perkes, M.D., September 12, 1952, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They also lived in Salt Lake City and Ogden, Utah. They made their home in Afton 42 years ago. She has been a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She could be best described as a person who wouldn’t hurt anyone. She had a great and silent wisdom.
An active member of the LDS Church, she had twice served as ward Relief Society President. She also served in the Cub Scouts, as Blazer Leader, and was presently teaching the Sunbeam Class in the Primary. She was a member of the M.R.S. Club. She was a 4-H leader and had received her 25-year service pin. She was a founding member of the Star valley Arts Council. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, sewing, and entertaining her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, O.D. Perkes, M.D., Afton Wyoming; 3 sons; Bryan (Julie) Perkes, Perkes Hereford Ranch, Star Valley, Wyoming; Phillip (Marci) Perkes, Idaho Falls; Orson (marie) Perkes, Perkes Hereford Ranch, Star Valley, Wyoming; 4 daughters; DeAnna (Gary) Hamman, Filer, Idaho; Melinda (Kevin) Forbush, Layton, Utah; Louise (Norman) Gee, Ft. Collins, Colorado; and Noma (Derrik) Walton, Cody, Wyoming; 21 Grandchildren and a Sister; Ella Mae Moon, Melbourne, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marjorie Madsen, and two brothers, Will¬iam Richards and Ralph Richards.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 1, 1998, at 11:00 a.m. at the Afton, Wyoming LDS Stake Center with Counselor Ryan Jenkins of the Afton LDS 2nd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and for one hour prior to the services on Saturday, both at the Afton Stake Center. Interment will be in the Afton Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
