Alvin Thomas Williams

Alvin Thomas Williams, 80, of Samaria, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at home with his family.
He was born August 25, 1920, in the same home he was currently residing in, a son of Maximillian and Ellen Williams. He was raised, in Samaria, completing 1-8 grades at the Samaria School. He graduated from Malad High School and later from Albion Teacher’s College. He served in the United States Navy from October 1942 to 1946 when he was honorably discharged.
He married Blanche Lucille Dent on April 24, 1950, in Ruth, Nevada, at the home of Jerry and Frankie Williams. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple August 7, 1967. Alvin worked for the United States Geological Survey, taking his family to many parts of the Rocky Mountain region. His last 12 years with the USGS were in Anchorage, Alaska. Since his retirement in 1975, he and his wife have lived in Samaria on the Williams Farm.
Alvin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Malad 2nd Ward. He served as a Sunday School teacher, scout leader, temple worker and home teacher. Alvin and Blanche served a mission to the Philippines from 1980-1982.
He enjoyed farming, hunting and especially being with his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Blanche; two sons, Samuel Max (Marilyn), Wichita, Kansas, and Jerry Paul, Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Peggy Anne (Michael) Pulsipher, Semi Valley, California, and Nancy McKinney, Samaria; 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two sisters, Leone Bezold, Twin Falls, Idaho, and Ruth Surrage, Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Daniel, Jerry and Floyd and one sister, Betty Joy Launer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28. Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery with full military honors
