Alvin Daniels

Alvin Daniels, 61, special brother of LaRue Gunter and Mary Lou Christensen, passed away on June 18, 2013 from complications of Downs Syndrome. He was born Sept. 9, 1951 in Pocatello, Idaho a son of Thomas C. and Ora Curtis Daniels. Because of his condition, Alvin was not able to attend school. However, he was a hard worker and had been employed for many years cleaning at the Bannock Memorial Hospital, Idaho State University and at the Idaho Human Development Center. Through the years Alvin won the hearts of many and had countless friends. He brightened the day for everyone he met. He loved participating in the Special Olympics Program; gymnastics, bowling and track and field. At one event, he met two famous people; Sally Struthers (who played in “All In The Family” and who he actually kissed) and Mac Davis (a singer who he sang with). He loved Elvis music and playing the guitar. He is survived by his two sisters; LaRue Gunter and Mary Lou Christensen, many nieces and nephews, four of which he grew up with; Donam Gunter of McCammon; Marsha Dunn of McCammon; Marlean Dunn of Blackfoot and Lynette Rowe of Declo. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; Siblings; Jean Evans, Jack Daniels, Virgie Powell, Tom (Butch) Daniels. Brother in law; Wesly Gunter ( who taught Alvin not only the love of Coca Cola but how to perform all types of “Shenanagaans”). a niece Mandy Dunn; a nephew, Casey Daniels and a nephew Mike Dunn. Alvin was our greatest example of unconditional love, and taught us true compassion of others. A very special thank you to the staff at the Yellowstone Group Home (Tami and Linda) and the caregivers at the South Bannock Group Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 22, 2013 at 12 noon in the Arbon LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 10:30-11:45 am.
