Althea Scott Buckley

PLEASANT VIEW, UT – Althea Scott Buckley, 85, passed away August 13, 2002 at McKay-De Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by her family.

She was born November 21, 1916 in Malad, ID, a daughter of George Milton and Naomi Roderick Scott.

Althea married Leland Walker and they were later divorced. On April 7, 1943, Althea married Maurice Robert Buckley in Preston, ID. Maurice died January 23, 1990.

Althea was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was the oldest member in her ward. She served in many capacities in the church and was still active in the Relief Society.

She retired from the federal government after 30 years of service. She served as the Grand Marshal of Pleasant View Founders Day in 1994.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters: Gary L. Walker, Sprague River, OR; Robert Buckley, Pleasant View; Wayne E. (Brenda) Buckley, Ogden; Linda Pettingill, Brigham City; Jean (Gordon) Hansen, Tempe, AZ; 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers and three sisters: George M. Scott, Khalil Scott, Rodney Scott, Josephine May, Lila Moss and Laura Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held August 17 in Ogden, UT. Interment was in the North Ogden Cemetery.

Althea was raised in Pleasantview, ID and had lived most of her adult life in Pleasant View, UT, which may have contributed to her “pleasant view” on life.
