Alta J. Moon

Alta J. Moon passed away due to causes incident to age, on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at the age of 95. She was born October 6, 1916, to Brigham W. and Mary Ashton Jones in Cherry Creek, Idaho.Alta married Dale Moon on August 19, 1936, in Ogden, Utah. They made their home in Henderson Creek, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Dale died in September of 1995. Alta was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities. She especially enjoyed serving in the Young Women’s program. She worked at Crowther Bros. Milling Company and the Oneida County Nursing Home in Malad. Alta always had such a zest for life and was always so much fun. She really had a great sense of humor. Growing up on a farm, Alta was a hard worker and taught her children a great work ethic. She mowed her own lawn while living on her farm in Henderson Creek until she was 91 years of age. At that time, she moved to Malad and lived in the South Apartments where she enjoyed her wonderful neighbors and city life. Alta was a wonderful cook and homemaker and was an excellent mother to the end. Her priority was her children and grandchildren – her posterity. Alta was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Faye and Sylvia and brothers, Avon and Leland. She is survived by her children Connie Kelso of Sandy, Utah; Dalene (Varnell) Bench of Brigham City, Utah; Brent (Alicia) Moon of Fielding, Utah; Sharon (Terry) Williams of Pocatello, Idaho and Cindy Moon of Helena, Montana; 18 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way); nine great-great-grandchildren; brother Cleland (Neva) Jones of Cherry Creek; sister Norma (John) Everett of Pineville, Louisiana and sister Lawana Klontz of Ogden, Utah.A special thanks is given to Mindy Allen from Oneida Home Health and to Access Home Care and Hospice. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the 2nd/4th/5th LDS Ward building. A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church, prior to the services
