Alice Marie Higley

Alice Marie Higley 80, passed away on Jan 29, 2017 at Oneida County Hospital in Malad, Idaho.

Marie was born on Easter Sunday April 5, 1936, in Malad Idaho. She was the second child born to Ralph and Alice Hughes. She grew up on a ranch in Samaria, Idaho. She attended schools in Samaria and Malad.

She married Dave G. Higley on May 29, 1953 in her parents house in Samaria with a dance and reception in the Samaria church. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple on May 28, 1977.

They started their married life in Blackfoot, Idaho. Then moved to Samaria for about a year and then spent almost 20 years in Firth, Idaho farming together. In 1974 they moved back to Samaria, Idaho. After Dave passed away in 2010 she moved into Malad.

Six children were born to Dave and Marie who meant everything to them. They also raised several grandchildren including Blair Higley, Lane Higley & Amber Higley and a great granddaughter Mackenzie Higley. Other grandchildren also felt it was home. Moms life was full of service and love especially to her family.

Marie has been very active in her church and community, serving in various callings in her church. She was also PTA president for several years in Firth, Idaho. Marie was also very active in the Farm Bureau being Women’s chairman for several years and was on the state women’s board over 5 counties for several years also.

Marie was a very generous person always helping and loving others. She will be so missed.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Dave Higley, her parents Ralph and Alice Hughes and her brother Clarence Hughes. She is survived by her children Rick (Sandy) Higley, Kemmerer Wyo, Lin Higley Malad, Levi (Debra) Higley Fielding, Utah, Karen (Paul) Tubbs Malad, Karl (DeAnn) Higley Malad, & Ann (Shawn) Delaney, Pocatello She is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 72 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 4, 2017 at 11a.m. in the Malad LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 20 S. 100 W. Friends may visit with the Higley family on Friday evening February 3 from 6-8 at the 2nd ward and on Saturday at 10:00. Burial will follow in the Samaria Cemetery.
