Alice Wayman, a long time resident of Logan, Utah, passed away on November 16, 2011, just two days prior to her 90th birthday. Alice passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband, Bill, five daughters and several grandchildren.

Alice LaRue Lewis Wayman was born to Ralph Carson and Maria Smith Lewis on November 18, 1921 in Smithfield, Utah. She graduated from North Cache High School. In 1941, she entered nurse’s training at the Budge Memorial Hospital and completed her nursing degree in 1944. She was employed as a registered nurse for many years at the Logan LDS Hospital, a job she truly loved.

On August 26, 1942, she met her life-long sweetheart, William A. Wayman, Jr. at a dance in Ogden, Utah. It was love at first sight. Each of them acknowledged this fact throughout their 67 years of marriage and truly cherished their love for each other. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS temple on July 26, 1944.

In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and compassionate nurse, Alice gave many years of devoted service in the LDS Church. Among her many callings, she served as Primary President and Relief Society President in the Logan First Ward. She and Bill served an LDS Mission at the Deseret Industries. Alice loved music and instilled that love in all of her children.

In 1998, Alice and Bill moved to Salt Lake City where they enjoyed the friendships of many new friends and attended many concerts and programs at Temple Square. As their health began to fail, they moved to Malad, Idaho to be close to and be cared for by their daughters, Bobbie and Helen.

Alice is survived by her loving husband, Bill and daughters, Trudy (Craig) Yeates of Camarillo, California; Helen (Richard) Ward, Malad Idaho; Bobbie (Ryan) Ward, Malad, Idaho; Billie (Bill) Murray, Bountiful, Utah; and Janet of West Jordan, Utah, 26 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.

There will be viewings Sunday, November 20th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, November 21st from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North, in Malad, Idaho. The funeral will be held Monday, November 21st at 12:00 p.m. at the Malad , Idaho LDS 6th Ward chapel, 400 North 200 West. Interment will be at the Logan Cemetery the same day.
