Alfred Levi Atkinson dies Tuesday

Alfred Levi Atkinson, 83, Samaria, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1980 in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1897 in Gwenford, near Samaria, to Alfred Henry and Hannah Elizabeth Waldron Atkinson.

He grew up and attended school in Samaria and on April 2, 1925 he married Annie Rachel Nielsen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He farmed most of his life in the Pocatello Valley near Samaria. He also hauled milk for Sego Co. for a short time. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held the office of high priest and had been active as a home teacher. He was also a member of the Samaria Water Board.

He is survived by his wife, Samaria; three sons, Dennis N. Atkinson, Logan, Utah; Gerald N. Atkinson, Salt Lake City; and Keith N. Atkinson, Malad; one daughter, Mrs. George (Shirley) Murbrook, West Warren, Utah; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four brothers, David, Lester and William Atkinson, all of Malad, and Elmer Atkinson, Perris, Calif.; four sisters: Mrs. Tom (Davinah) Evans, Malad; Mrs. Jack (Pearl) Bradshaw, Blackfoot; Mrs. Vernon (Zelma) Jones, Malad, and Mrs. Bud (Hannah) Davis, St. John.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 19, 1980 in the Samaria LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop M. Joe Davis officiating.

Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery.
