Afton Eileen Marble Lewis

Afton Eileen Marble Lewis, passed from this life on July 28, 2015, in Preston Idaho. Afton was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Stone, Id. to Bert O. and Alberta Robbins Marble. She was raised in Malad, Idaho and graduated from Malad High School. She then attended BYU where she received her teaching certificate and taught school Holbrook, Idaho. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas H. Lewis, on Feb 24, 1947, in the Logan Temple. They were married for 67 years before Tom passed away in Nov. 2013. Afton loved her family, children, gospel, flowers, birds, poetry, and all the arts, writing songs and poems for every occasion. She was always kind and loving, helping people whenever she could. She was a hard worker on the farm running any farm machinery, was a master gardener, and fantastic cook. She served two missions with her husband, one to Chesterfield, Id and the other to the Logan Temple. She served for many years in the Primary, ward and Stake positions, Relief Society, Young Women, Scouting, never forgetting every member a missionary and always said her best friend was Jesus Christ. She is survived by her 11 children: Jeannie (Lynn), Julie(Gary), Tom (Maureen), Janette (Jack), Jill(Stan), Tim (Sarah), Jackelyn(Dennis),Jolyn (Mark), Michael (Sherry), Johnalee (Darrin), and Patrick(Kolett), 50 Grandchildren, 70+ Great-grandchildren and 3+ great-great-grandchildren. As well as her siblings, Mary, Ruby, Bert, Norman, Ruth Ann, sister-in-law Elsie Sperry, brother- in law Gary Lewis. She was proceeded in death by her husband Tom, her mother and father, two brothers, 3 sons-in-law, 2 grandsons and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the Malad LDS Stake Center 1250 N. 1100 W. Friends may visit with the family at the (Changed to) Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. on Friday evening from 7-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
