Ted Morse

DOWNEY – Ted Morse, 65 of Downey, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Thursday, April 16, 1998, of sudden heart failure.

He was born August 27, 1932 in Tremonton, Utah, a son of Evan C. And Clara Nellie Steed Morse. He was reared in Box Elder County, and received his education in Downey.

He married Marla Jarman, and they divorced. He later married C. Kay Newbold on May 22, 1956, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple May 4, 1964.

He was chief of police in Downey for several years, and was later employed with the Bannock County Sheriff’s office until retiring in 1990. At the time of his death he was employed at Flags West, where he worked in maintenance.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nothing pleased him more than to take his grandchildren fishing.

He also loved camping and playing cards with his friends. He touched the hearts of all who met him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, C. Kay Morse, of Downey; four sons, Teddy G. (Sherry) Morse of Pocatello, James (Vicki) Morse of American Falls, Rulon (Teresa) Morse, of Pocatello, Evan (Nola) Morse of Downey; six daughters, Cathy (Terry) Alderman of Salt Lake City, Cheryl (Jose Nario) Valquez of Salt Lake City, Robyn (Daniel) Wilson of Downey, Denise (Mike) Gardner of Chubbuck, Kelly Devon (Kevin) Ross of Tremonton, Utah, Jalyn Nelson of St. Anthony; 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Devon (Marva) Morse, Joe (Janice) Morse, Ron (Sharlene) Morse, all of Ogden, Utah; three sisters, Carol (Jerry) Jensen, Sharon McIntire, and Vicki (William) Lamb, all of Ogden, Utah; stepfather, Gerald T. Taylor of Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Teddi Jean, two grandchildren, Paul Morse and Cymber Schnobrich.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 1998 at 1 p.m. in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel.

Friends may call at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview, in Airmo this evening from 6 p.m. to 8p.m., and on Monday at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Burial will be in the Downey City Cemetery.
