OGDEN – Dr. Hugh Conwey “Con” Morris Jr. beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away December 8, 2001.
Conwey was born in Malad, Idaho to Penelope Williams Morris and Hugh Conwey Morris Sr., on February 27, 1920 and was a member of the LDS Church (60th Ward).
He was a lifelong resident of Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1939.
He entered the United States Army in October of 1941 and upon completion of basic training, was transferred to the signal corps, where he completed radar technician training. Commissioned as a second Lieutenant (anti-aircraft) and later promoted to Captain, he served in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines during World War II. At the end of the war, he returned to Ogden and was honorably discharged.
On June 26, 1946 Conwey married Joyce Lutz in Ogden. She was the love of his life and constant companion. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage together.
Conwey loved knowledge and upon return to civilian life, enrolled at Weber State College and later the University of Utah, where he completed his pre-dental requirements.

University of Oregon School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon in 1954, he returned to Utah and opened his dental practice in South Ogden, where he practiced until retiring in 1988.
He was active in both professional and civic services and served as a past President of the Ogden Exchange Club, Weber College Alumni Association, and Weber Dental Society. He also served on the Weber County Board of Health, Utah State Board of Dental Examiners, South Ogden Planning Commission and he held many offices in the Utah State Dental Society.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lutz Morris, and children, Joyce Thompson, Las Vegas, Nevada; Hugh Conwey Morris III, Roy, Utah; Carolyn Perkins, Ogden, Utah; Mark (Diane) Morris, South Ogden, Utah; Paul (Lori) Morris, Ogden, Utah; Max Morris, South Ogden, Utah; and eight grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Ms. Vella (Lester J.) Bingham, Provo, Utah; Ms. Mary (Fred W.) Furniss, Washington Terrace, Ogden; Ms. Eva Jean (Dr. Milton J.) Wilcox, South Ogden, Utah; and one brother, Dr. Ted L. (Rosemary) Morris, Indio, California.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
