Lynn James Christensen

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – On December 4, 2012, our loving father gently passed away at CareSource Hospice Center, eleven days before his 93rd birthday. Dad passed away due to causes incident to age. He was born December 15, 1919 in Malad City, ID to Carl Anton Christensen and Dora Adeline Johnson. Dad was predeceased by his parents and his older brother, Elmo Gottfredson, his younger sister, Fern Ruhs, and his younger brother, Boyd Christensen.

He graduated from South High School with the Class of ’37. He married his childhood sweetheart, Victoria Margaret Smith in the Salt Lake Temple on February 12, 1940. She passed away on the first day of spring in 2004, shortly after they had celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

They had three sons: Lynn J. (Shirley) Christensen, Jr.; Gary Smith (Linda) Christensen; and Galen Smith (Debra) Christensen. Gary and Galen predeceased him. Dad had eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

He worked for the EIMCO Corp. for 32 years as an overhead crane operator. After retiring, he and Margaret were very active in church and civic organizations. He was the past president of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers Beehive Chapter. He was a charter member of the Mt. Olympus Senior Center, and was the first president of the site council. He loved to entertain, and he, along with his dear friends, Bryant Jensen, Eileen Thompson and Lenna Albison, traveled around the city playing at various senior centers and the Blind Center. They were known as “Lynn’s Band.” He played the harmonica, an instrument that he taught himself to play as a youth.

Services will be held at the Canyon Rim Stake Center on December 11, 2012 with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
