Ila Dell Bird

Ila Dell Bird, 74, died January 31, 2003 at her home in Ogden, UT. She was born April 12, 1928 in Malad, ID, a daughter of Jonah Morse and Thelma Jones Evans. On December 3, 1948, Ila Dell married G. Perry Bird in the Logan LDS Temple.

She was reared and educated in Malad, ID, graduating from Malad High School. She also lived in Logan, UT, Seattle, WA and Santa Maria, CA before moving to Ogden in 1976.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had been a member of the Ogden 3rd Ward. While a member of the Ogden 75th Ward, she served in the Young Women’s organization as Mia Maid leader; also serving as Relief Society president and counselor.

She was a past member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Ila Dell enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, painting, cooking, gardening and sewing.

Surviving are her husband of Ogden; two sons and four daughters: Michael E. (Kim) Bird, and Dwight M. (Vicki) Bird, both of Ogden; Christine (Rick) McCullough, Alameda, CA; Linda Nez, Ogden; T.J. (John) Bond, Roy, UT; Shannon (Larry) Fisher, Wolf Point, MT; 22 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She is also survived by two brothers and a sister: Rex Evans, Portland, OR; Melvin Evans, Ketcham, ID; and Jayne Price, Malad.

Preceding her in death were her parents and three brothers, Jonah, Jr., Robert and Edison.

Funeral services were held at the Burch Creek Stake Center in Ogden. Interment was in the Logan City Cemetery.
