Thressa Hazel Harris Binggeli

Thressa Hazel Harris Binggeli, 81, of Pocatello, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 1993, following an extended illness.

She was born December 17, 1911, in Woodrufff, Idaho, the daughter of Oliver and Pearl Davis Harris. She attended schools in McCammon area, and in her late teens she left for Pocatello to live with one of her married sisters, and to find employment. Thressa married Francis Leigh Binggeli March 15, 1935, in Pocatello.

After Leigh’s death in the 1940s, she worked in the home, did outside housekeeping and raised seven children by herself. In addition to these considerable responsibilities, Thressa was active in her yard, and after her children were raised, was employed full-time as a cook in one of the local health care facilities.

The most important thing in Thressa’s life were her children, and she lived for them. She made her home at 337 Washington for some 50 years until April 1992, when deteriorating health made it impossible for her to continue in her home.

Surviving Thressa are two daughters, Sharon Booker of Mountain View, California, and Bonnie Allen of Maple Valley, Washington; five sons, Aaron D., E. Blaine, Ralph L. and Ronald D., of Pocatello, and Darrell K., of San Francisco; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; four sisters; Fern McCardell and Marjorie Miles of Pocatello, Ethel Jean Smart of McCammon, Colleen Tewalt of Nampa, Idaho; two brothers, Cleo Khalil Harris of Pocatello, and DuWayne Harris of McCammon. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, Calvin, and three sisters, Twila Smith, Mary Parkinson and Theo Morgan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 22, 1993, at 11 a.m. at the 17th Ward Chapel, Jefferson and Walnut, with President Gordon L. Wilks officiating. Friends may call at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., this evening between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and one hour before services at, the 17th Ward Chapel. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery
