Evelyn Williams Moon Beck

Evelyn Williams Moon Beck peacefully completed her mortal mission July 15, 2005 at home. She was born February 18, 1921, in Cherry Creek, Idaho, the fourth child of Verlorum and Rachel Amelia Williams Moon. She graduated from Malad High School in 1938 and then attended Steven Henager College in Salt Lake City. She was working Salt Lake when she met her sweetheart, Wayne Moore Beck. Wayne and Evelyn were married June 20, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five children.

In 1946 Evelyn and Wayne were called to serve a proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They sold all of their worldly goods and set sail with two small sons for Brazil. This mission began a lifelong love of and service to the Brazilian people. From 1963-1966 Wayne presided over the Brazilian Mission with Evelyn at his side. Callings took them back to Brazil from 1985-1990.

Evelyn’s greatest joy was being a wife and a mother. Home was her heaven on earth and her favorite place to be. She lived a life full of service to her family and to her church. She served faithfully not only as a missionary, but also as a den mother, teacher, ward and stake Primary president, multiple times as Relief Society president, assistant matron of the Salt Lake Temple and matron of the Sno (sic) Paulo Temple. She served as a temple worker for 29 years completing her service in the Bountiful Temple in November 2004.
